Mum-Friendly Non-Alcoholic Cocktails

Posted by Katherine Mugan on

Us pregnant and breastfeeding mums love a cocktail just as much when we're growing our little one as before we got pregnant! These non-alcoholic cocktail recipes are just the thing to make sure you don't feel like you're missing out.

Virgin Pink Paloma

The Virgin Pink Paloma is a non-alcoholic version of the Paloma cocktail with a pink twist. It contains:

1 shot measure (25ml) oz lime juice
1 shot measure (25 ml) pink grapefruit juice
1 shot measure (25 ml) agave syrup
A generous pinch of sea salt
Soda to top

Simply mix the ingredients together, pour over ice and top with soda. Garnish with slice of lime if you're feeling fancy.

Coco-Pineapple Ginger Beer

This soft ginger beer comes with an exotic pineapple infusion! If you're craving a cocktail but you're feeling a little nauseous, this could be for you. The ginger will help calm your morning (or all day!) sickness. Sit down, relax with this drink, and enjoy a minute off!

Ingredients

1 shot measure (25 ml) lime juice
1 shot measure (25 ml) pineapple juice
1 shot measure (25 ml) ginger syrup
Crystallised ginger to garnish

Combine and shake the liquid ingredients together with ice. Strain into a glass. Decorate with the crystallised ginger - on a stick or cut partway through and pushed onto the edge of the glass.

Lavender Lemonade

Make a lavender lemonade mocktail! This simple recipe makes a 1.5l pitcher. Perfect for summer. Super low maintenance for busy, tired, hot mums!

Ingredients

  • 1.5l water
  • 125ml lavender honey
  • 250ml lemon juice

Add the honey to enough boiling water to dissolve. Once dissolved, top up to 1.5l with cold water and pop in the fridge to cool fully. When you're ready to serve, pour in the lemon juice and serve over ice.

Grow a Pear

A grown-up pear mocktail infused with rosemary.

Ingredients

2 large shot measures (70ml) pear juice
1 large shot measure (35ml) lemon juice
1 small shot measure (25ml) rosemary syrup

For the syrup:
250ml water
200g sugar
20g dried rosemary

To make the rosemary syrup (makes 250ml), bring the ingredients to a boil to dissolve the sugar. Allow to steep for half an hour, then strain out the rosemary. Store in a sterilised container, or make loads of mocktails and use as soon as it's cool!

To make up the cocktail, shake all the ingredients with ice. Pour over ice in a lowball / whisky glass.

Revitaliser

A long drink for when you're really thirsty (breastfeeeding, anyone..!). Get a double whammy of enjoyment and goodness with a bit a bit of a health kick from the ginger and plenty of fruit and veg juice.

Ingredients

175ml carrot and apple juice
1 shot measure (25ml) ginger syrup
10ml lime juice

Shake all the ingredients with ice and strain into a tall glass.

With thanks to Town & Country for cocktail inspiration.
